US Homeland Security Drops the Hammer

So this past Saturday I logged on to Onsmash for my weekly music news and low and behold, I find nothing but the above pic. Apparently  the Department of Homeland Security seized over 80 sites last Friday as part of webwide crack down. I for one was not aware that onsmash conducted shady dealings, and they continue to protest there innocence on Twitter, launching a "Free Onsmash" campaign which is gaining support.      
  
Onsmash wasn't the only site hit, rapgodfathers.com was also shut down along with about dozen counterfeit shoe and apparel sites.  The news has been buzzing all over the web for the past couple days, below is a list of the apparel sites that also feel victim.

Purple Rain: REEBOK "PRINCE" PACK

"Only wanna see you bathing in that purple rain" , Reebok in homage of Minnesota's musical mastermind releases there Purple Pack. Including both the Insta Pump Fury and Court Victory Pumps, these purple people eaters are sure to gobble up attention.

Featuring purple suede throughout the majority of the outer, and accented by a crazy paisley pattern on the toe and back panel. What does it for me though is the velour lining, it screams artistic eccentricity. But you'll have to hang in there because these won't be dropping until next year.

 

HUF 2010 World Champions Snapback Cap

The snapback wave continues to gain steam. Recently HUF released there 2010 World Champs hat, fitted hat? No, it's a snapback. I gotta say, snapbacks have definably gained favor with me and not just because I sell them. Strangely enough, the fact that the cap is a snapback makes it all the more fresher.   

HUF honors the Giants with a cap that features the brands trademark "H" embroidered on the front, classic old school style patch on the side, and World Champions on the back. Oh and we can't forget the chrome HUF piece on the snap strap. I would have loved to see what the colorway would have looked like had the Rangers won. Oh well. You gotta check out the G-Shock November Collection, with 16 options of colors and functions to select from Casio's effort to seamlessly meld style and functionality is a raging success. Take the GW-6900CC-1JF and GW-6900CC-6JF, base models for the Casio G-Shock x Star Wars collaboration. They were unveiled by Complex, Lucas Arts and Casio G-Shock in conjunction with the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II game. MISHKA x NEW ERA Throwback Death Adders 59Fifty Fitted Cap

I know we are pretty much known for snapback hats, but that doesn't mean that a nice fitted can't find it's way into the mix every once in a while. Team Mishka and New Era hits back with this one and they hit pretty hard. The Throwback Death Adders fitted comes in two different colorways but I must say I like the teal/black/magenta ones the best. The other one is old school red white and blue and not so bad either, both featuring mighty fresh graphic patch on the front and Mishka embroidered across the back. The Purple Pack: Nike Auto Trainer x Hornets Snapback Showcase

The Nike Auto Trainer Green/Purple Punch debuted back in June but because they so perfectly match our Grand Ma Ma edition snapback hat, they deserve another look. As green suede and leather tango on the upper, the quarter panel and toe box feature perforated leather with purple punch popping up on various hot spots on the shoe. They retail for only $85, and perhaps if because of both that and the fact that these sneakers scream old school freshness that they are currently so hard to find. Everyone was reporting them to be available at Wish but they are apparently sold out as I checked it out before posting this and all they had was the black/red colorways in stock. Here's to hoping that more turn up soon, we'll keep you posted.

For those that don't remember, Larry Johnson was selected first overall in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Hornets, and would win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award the following year. He also competed in the 1992 Slam-Dunk Championship at the NBA All-Star Weekend in Orlando, finishing second to Phoenix's Cedric Ceballos. Along with Alonzo Mourning, Muggsy Bogues and Rex Chapman, Johnson played with the Hornets at the height of their popularity in the early and mid-1990s. During this time, Johnson, who went by his initialism "LJ" and the nickname "Grandmama" (because of a popular Converse commercial), was featured on the cover of the premiere issue of SLAM Magazine.
